Young At Art, a juried art exhibit featuring the works of artists 55 years and older, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a reception and awards ceremony Oct. 19 at the Durant Arts Center in Old Town.
Artists from throughout the region submitted 174 pieces of art for consideration. Ninety works representing 49 artists were selected for the exhibit, which is jointly sponsored by Goodwin House Foundation and Senior Services of Alexandria.
“We are proud to be the organizers of this major art show in the greater Washington area,” said Jeanne Jacob, executive director of Goodwin House Foundation. We also are grateful to our generous sponsors for helping to make this show a reality."

Works were submitted by teachers, professionals and amateurs in mediums ranging from oil and acrylics to digital composition, fiber and mixed media.
The 2016 Young At Art Winners include: First Place - Nilo Santiago, Orphan in the Sky (Acrylic); Second Place - Kyrah Drasheff, In the Depths (Mixed Media); Third Place - Michele Reday Cook, Nightfall (Oil); Honorable Mention - Michele Reday Cook, Urban Renewal (Acrylic/Mixed Media); Francesca DiLorenzo, Holding Onto Her Hat (Terra Cotta); Vicki Doyle, Colorful Illusions (Oil); William Moffett, The Orionids Shower (Photograph Manipulated); Gloria Spellman, Three Pears (Digital Photography); and Richard Starr, Lady in Bun (Ceramic).
The Young At Art exhibit will remain at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St., through Nov. 18. and many pieces are for sale by the artists.
