The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in McLean will hold its May Faith and Life Forums. These one-hour programs feature a speaker followed by discussion relating the topic to living one's Christian faith on a daily basis. All are welcome. The community is invited to the annual Church Picnic hosted by Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLean, on June 11, at noon on the front lawn. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, and snow cones along with many games, and activities for the children, including a moon bounce. Dress casually and bring a blanket to sit on. Mary Beth Connor Newkument, the vice-president of Lumen Catechetical Consultants of Washington, D.C. will present two dynamic conferences highlighting two major aspects of the deep spirituality of Pope John Paul II. The first focuses on his Marian devotion in “The Mystery of Mary in the Life and Papacy of John Paul II,” and the second shows his deep regard for the full development of each person in “The Dignity of the Human Person.” The retreat program day includes prayer, conferences, lunch, and mass.
