Obituary — Col. Kaye D. Kause

Col. Kaye D. Kause, U.S. Army, retired, of Vienna, died on April 18 at his home.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Vienna on April 16.

Interment at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors will be held Friday, June 2 at 9 a.m. Friends and family are asked to gather at the Administration Building by 8:30 a.m.

Kaye was born in Cleveland, lived in rural Ohio through childhood and high school, then majored in industrial traffic management at John Carroll University in Cleveland. He served 28 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a full colonel in 1982. His assignments included two tours in Germany, one in Korea, two in Viet Nam and one tour to Bangkok, Thailand.

Kause spent two years as a contract worker in Saudi Arabia helping to modernize the Saudi Arabian National Guard, and from 1990 to 1998, he worked as a special education bus driver for Fairfax County. He also served for 12 years on Vienna's Transportation Commission.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; daughter, Elizabeth; three sons, Chuck, Mike and Tim; and six grandchildren.
