Robbery in Potomac Village

At a community meeting to address crime on Monday night, police officers revealed that a robbery had taken place at a parking lot in the Potomac Village Shopping Center earlier that day.

"It was a strong arm robbery," said Cpl. Sonia Pruitt of the Montgomery County Police Department on Tuesday. "The woman was pushed down and her bag was taken."

This was not a random incident, said Sergeant Mike Watts of the Investigative Section of the Police Department at Monday night's meeting. “There’s more to it than that,” said Watts, who said there appeared to be a connection between the attacker and the victim.

"We're investigating [the incident] and are not releasing any information," said Lt. Daniel Waring, deputy commander for District One, on Tuesday afternoon. "All I can say is it was not a random incident. The victim and robber were known to each other."
