2nd Robbery at BB&T Bank

2nd Robbery at BB&T Bank

For the second time in 6 1/2 weeks, the BB&T bank at 6130 Redwood Square Centre in Centreville has been robbed. The latest heist happened Tuesday, just after 10 a.m.

Fairfax County police say a man walked into the bank, declared his intention to rob it and demanded cash. The robber then took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank on foot. No one was injured.

The suspect is described at a dark-skinned man, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore dark pants and a white shirt, as well as a white shirt around his head. Anyone with information about him or about this incident is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or police at 703-691-2131.

The first robbery at that BB&T branch occurred Dec. 2, around 3:15 p.m. A week later, police charged Christopher A. Watson, 27, of 13968 Rockland Village Drive in Chantilly, with the crime.

According to police Det. Earl Bowers, investigating the case, the robber approached a teller at the counter while the teller was completing a transaction. "The suspect leaned over the counter, indicated he had a firearm, announced a robbery and threatened to shoot [the teller]," wrote Bowers in an affidavit for a warrant to search Watson's home.

After the robber demanded money, the teller gave it to him and he walked out of the bank with it. Witness information and further investigation reportedly led police to Watson, and on Dec. 9 they arrested and charged him with that robbery. He has a Feb. 6 court date.
