Teachers in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties were honored for their service to the community in a luncheon and ceremony held by members of the Baha’i Community of Great Falls.
The teachers were selected by their students to be feted and gifted at the luncheon, held on the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week.
The subject of service through teaching is a recurrent theme in Baha’i literature.
John Albertson, a guitar teacher from George Washington University, provided entertainment. Dr. Michael Penn, associate professor of psychology, was the keynote speaker.
The Baha’i faith, which originated in the Middle East, has more than five million members.
