Police Seek Identity of Injured Woman

The Alexandria Police Department needs the public’s help to identify an injured woman found on the city’s south side on Sunday, April 13.

Police were called to the 400 block of Wilkes Street at around 8:55 p.m. on Sunday. Neighbors had found a woman near a house, bleeding but conscious. She told paramedics that her name was Sofina and that she had fallen. While receiving treatment at Inova Alexandria Hospital, she said that she was assaulted during a robbery.

She is now at Inova Fairfax Hospital, being treated for a head injury that doctors say is consistent with a fall.

Sofina is a white Hispanic woman in her 50's to early 60's and may speak only Spanish. She is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs between 95 and 100 pounds. She has thinning brown hair and was wearing a dark wig. She also has an appendectomy scar. She was carrying a grocery bag containing baby food and water. So far, officers have not located anyone who knows her.

If anyone believes they know Sofina’s identity, call the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-838-4711.
