Banshee Reeks Park

Banshee Reeks Park is a 695-acre natural preserve that protects the habitats of local flora and fauna and conducts scientific research on the area's history and ecology. The areas that Banshee Reeks Park protects includes ponds, wetlands and meadows, locations that are a host to various animals including black bear, deer, beaver and numerous birds, insects and plants. The grounds have an area for primitive camping and historical buildings including a bank barn and a log cabin dating back to the 1830's. The preserve hosts various nature walks that examine the area's rocks, birds and butterflies. Every third Saturday is Volunteer Day, where people with an interest in nature and preservation can meet. Banshee Reeks also hosts a Volunteer Intern Program. Currently, the park is open to organized groups and reserved parties only. For reservations, contact Ron Circe at 703-669-0316.

Claude Moore Park

Hours: Dawn to Dusk; Visitor Center: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily

Claude Moore Park is a mixture of nature and history, holding a section of historic Vestal's Gap Road in the Lanesville Heritage Area of the park. Other historic sites in the park include the Lanesville House and the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum. The park holds miles of hiking trails and provides visitors with numerous self-guided activities for a mix of education, fitness and fun. The eastern youth sportsplex offers four lighted baseball fields, two football/soccer fields, three softball fields and a snack bar.

Franklin Park

Franklin Park encompasses 203 acres and provides views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visitors to Franklin Park can cool off in the pool, complete with beachfront entry, showering mushroom, four pool slides and swimming lessons for all ages. For the more sports-oriented, there is a sand court for volleyball, courts for tennis and in-line hockey, and the "Starplex" sports complex, which houses two soccer fields, two baseball fields, three Little League/softball fields and two football/rugby/lacrosse fields. There is also a shaded playground and the "Paddy Jamieson Memorial Garden", featuring over 100 perennials, trees, shrubs and groundcovers. Rentals are available for the fields, courts and two pavilions.

Potomack Lakes Sportsplex

The Potomack Lakes Sportsplex is a 47-acre facility that offers opportunities for numerous sports players. From April through November, the complex hosts 16 sports games per night and almost 4,000 games annually. The facility provides hosts weeknight and weekend play in its four lighted softball fields, large playground and concession stand. Potomack Lakes Sportsplex is home to the Paul Henchen Soccer Fields, a collection of 6 soccer fields. The park can is also open for jogging and dog-walking.

Ashburn Park

This 16-acre park includes three age-appropriate playgrounds, a network of walking/jogging trails and a picnic pavilion.

Briar Patch Park

Route 604 off Sterling Boulevard

Briar Patch Park is a five-acre park that holds three playgrounds, a pavilion, two tennis courts, a volleyball court and a basketball court.

Greg Crittenden Park

Composed of 16 acres, Greg Crittenden Park includes three baseball/softball fields and snack bar.

Harper Park

East of Leesburg on Route 7

Hours: Dawn to Dusk

Though only less than an acre, Harper Park holds the Stone House, a historic tavern from 1822 that provided respite for travelers.

Keep Loudoun Beautiful Park

Adjacent to the historic Goose Creek truss bridge on Route 7 east of Leesburg

This 3.4-acre park contains a boat launch and a picnic area. The park is ideal for a quiet afternoon of fishing.

Lucketts Community Park

Lucketts Community Park is a 10-acre network of trails that also holds a soccer field and a lighted adult softball field.

The park contains a lighted baseball field, three soccer fields, three baseball fields, a Little League field, two tennis courts, a picnic pavilion and a small fishing pond.
